Ooty is surrounded by 4 major hills namely Elk Hills, Club Hills, Snow don Hills and the Doddabetta Hills. The beauty of the place has earned it synonyms like "The Jewel in the Crown of Tamil Nadu."

Best Time to Visit Ooty

Ooty is one destination that can be visited anytime during the year for the weather remains pleasant throughout the year. In the summers the temperature rests between 15 to 20 degrees and the maximum temperature is 25 degrees. In the monsoons the place gets good amount of rainfall and in the winters the weather is cold with the average temperature generally below 4 degrees.

Botanical Gardens

These gardens are home to the large varieties of plants and animals species. You can also see a 20 million old fossil of a tree in the garden .The garden boasts of lush and green well maintained trees of Cork, Paper and Bark.

Ooty Lake

This 2.5 km long artificial lake offers boating and fishing options to the tourists. The tallest memorial of Ooty is also situated near this lake.

Wax World

This wax museum made inside 142 year old bungalow, contains the statues of famous Indian historical personalities. It is symbolic of rich culture and heritage of India.

Doddabetta Peak

Located at the altitude of 2023 meters, this peak is situated at the distance of 10 km from Ooty. The picturesque beauty of the place can be breath-taking.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

The first Wildlife Sanctuary in the Southern India, this wildlife sanctuary houses many varieties of Flora and Fauna. One can find the trees like Indian Labumusum, Bamboos (Bambusa Arundinacea) Natural teak (Tectona Grandis), Crenulata/Terminalia Tomontosa, Anogeissus latifolia, Grewalia. The species of birds like the magpie-robin, the red spur fowl, the gray partridge quails, malabar grey hornbill, bulbuls, goggle eyed plover, Malabar whistling thrush, spotted babbler, small green barbet can also be found.

Ketty Valley

Also called 'Switzerland of the Southern India', this valley is situated in the Nilgiri district and is known for the excellent weather all across the World.
